SOME OF STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN'S
(Hey, this is dedicated to Lynda, who asked for it)
Well, incredible people you meet on the WWW. Lynda happened to be on SRVs last gig on August 26th, 1990, at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre, in East Troy, Wisconsin. That's what she wrote me about it:
"That was a great concert and he was phenomenal... It was a rainy night and thank God I had pavilion seats, but, they were near the back edge of the pavilion. There was this couple there who had on matching rain coats and those rain hats, both in khaki. They were like Mr. and Mrs. nerd types, or so I thought... after about the third song, they pulled out a bag of joints and began to toke away. They were passing them as far as the joints would go... It was a riot...Stevie Ray was so good. I wish that I could have seen him play with Buddy Guy whom I have seen several times live; that would have been something... did you know Stevie Ray was only 35 when he went down? He had an alcohol and drug problem and was really run down, and, had just got out of rehab before he performed here, so, he was in peak condition. I really liked his style and drive... So many greats lost to their vices, eh?"
So here we go... As a first set I choose the available videos of Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan in Session, taped on December 6th, 1983.
The opening
The second video (sorry, I don't know the song's title)
Match Box Blues
Texas Flood

Ask Me No Questions
Don't Lie to Me
Call It Stormy Monday
This second set of videos was recorded at "MTV Mardi Gras" on February 28, 1987 (so it seems from what I could find out, not in 1988 as noted on the videos comments), on board the S.S. Presidente riverboat, during New Orleans Jazz & Heritage FestivaL. The other performers were: SRV's band Double Trouble, Dr. John and The Fabulous Thunderbirds featurinf Stevie's brother Jimmie Vaughan and Kim Wilson.
